The Kettle Before the Phone

a 1-minute read with your tea

What happens when you let the water boil before you reach for the screen?

There is a quiet revolution in choosing the kettle first. In letting the morning be slow, warm, and unhurried before the world rushes in.

“You watch the steam curl upward like a little prayer.”

You fill the kettle. You listen to it hum. The window is still blue at the edges, and the house has not yet remembered all the things it wants from you.

And for just those few minutes, the day belongs to you.
